Hello lovelies! Today I'm back with a post for all you natural skincare lovers. I love the idea of natural ingredients in skincare but it can be difficult to get your hands on products that don't have the odd sneaky ingredient thrown in. To be honest, this should have gone in my Four Face Masks/ Four Skin Problems post but I wasn't sure if I was going to like this or not at first. The product I'm talking about is this Ancient Clay Facial Mask* from Maple Holistics. Maple Holistics are a brand from the USA who are sponsored by edumuch.com. They focus on high quality ingredients to maximise the therapeutical potential of each product. I could really do with some therapeutic pampering right now so let's see how I got on shall we?

They Say:
"Ancient Clay utilizes a timeless blend of 100% Pure, straight-from-the-source clays for impeccable facial skin health. Combination of authentic clays include French Green Clay, Bentonite Clay, and Fuller’s Earth (Multanni Mitti), each with their own therapeutic benefits for the skin
French Green Clay absorbs and removes impurities from the skin – Bentonite Clay revitalizes skin and softly extracts toxins – Fuller’s Earth helps to clear blackheads and whiteheads while hydrating the skin for glowing, radiant skin."

The Ingredients:
French Green Clay
Bentonite Clay
Fuller's Earth (Multanni Mitti)

Isn't it refreshing to only see three ingredients in a face mask and all of which come directly from the earth itself?

Process:
Ok, so this ancient clay facial mask comes in powdered form. Initially I did a mental "uh oh" as I had never used a face mask like this before. The instructions were pretty simple though. The tub comes with two scoops which I was secretly over the moon with (you all know I love a quirky skincare tool to fiddle about with). All you have to do is use one scoop of clay to two scoops of water, then you mix it all together into a paste. I just used the lid as a dish to mix it all together (anything to avoid extra washing up). Mixing this together is my favourite part of the whole process as it just feels very natural making the mask myself. I think it adds to the whole experience. What I have noticed is that one scoop of clay is way too much for me. I have a smallish face (I think I do anyways) so half a scoop tends to do the trick. At least it saves on product! The clay is obviously very wet when applied but does begin to harden the longer you leave it on. What I will say is that after washing it off, it does leave quite a mess behind so I'd advise applying it in the bath.

Thoughts:
I love clay masks as they are perfect for oily skin due to them absorbing all the toxins and dirt left behind. As someone who can get sloppy with their skincare routine, I'm all over this when I've had a heavy makeup day. Everytime I wash my hair, I just pop this clay mask on to work its magic whilst I'm waiting for everything to sink in. My previous experience with all natural face masks is that you have to keep them in the fridge and they go all gunky after a month or so (aint nobody got time for that) but as this is a clay mask, you don't get that problem. As the ingredients are natural, I don't feel any irritation or dryness after it has been removed which is always good. My skin feels clean and fresh after use and my blemished areas look a lot calmer. My only issue with this product is again, the mess that it leaves behind in the bath tub. It does make me step up my bathroom cleaning game though so I think I can handle it.

Maple Holistics don't just focus on face masks, they also specialise in natural skincare, bath, body and hair care so if you'd like to have a peruse click here. I'm laughing at myself because I managed to use the word peruse... simple things ey. They're also running a promotion to receive a free product through Amazon so if you'd like to check that out I'll leave the link here

Let me know if you have any natural beauty/skincare favs!

  34. Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my blog whether you don’t mind. I’ll give you a link on your web blog. I recently came to know about www.avanaaustralia.com, their Natural Skincare products are very effective.

  35. Love skincare with few ingredients, it always says to me, 'these guys knew what they wanted the product to do!'. Have you tried using it as a substitute face wash? Might sound a bit crazy, but mix some up with water and have a little scrub, super skin friendly face wash - kinda like the May Lindstorm 'The Clean Dirt', but a lot cheaper ;)
