The £4 Eyeshadow: Makeup Revolution Redemption Essential Shimmers Palette

Hello lovelies! Do you remember the days of the good old blue eyeshadow? Smudging it across your eyes daring to go almost to your brows with only a sponge applicator and a little bit of hope. I'm not sure if that was a 90's makeup trend or if it was just a bad decision adopted by my school or was it just me (who knows). I'm glad I saw the light at the end of that glittery blue tunnel. I stopped wearing eyeshadow over the next few years as I was worried I'd end up looking like a clown again. That was until I spotted the Urban Decay Naked range and that's where I rekindled my love of eyeshadow (in a much healthier way). Come on, who could resist that beautiful packaging? I feel like the Naked palettes are perfect as they give you a range of colours all in one tray so I haven't really explored many other brands until now.

I was completely oblivious to Makeup Revolution until I saw their palettes on various blogs. I guess that's because I'm a Boots girl through and through so I rarely get the chance to see what Superdrug have in store. A few of their palettes bare a high resemblance to the Naked palettes which we all adore but retail at a mere £4 instead of £38. Crazy isn't it!? If I had have know that there were dupes for the Naked palettes I definitely would have checked those out first. As I already have palettes 1 and 3, I wanted to choose one with a range of shades that I didn't already have so I went for the Makeup Revolution Redemption Essential Shimmers palette. What really drew me in was the bronzed orangey shade. I swatched all the shades in store (as you do) and was really surprised at the pigmentation (especially with the darker shades) so in the basket it went. Not only did I leave with a beautiful palette, I also left with a grubby hand. How dirty are all the sample areas especially in the MUA section but don't get me started on that!

Thoughts:
Ok, so for £4 I thought the quality of the eyeshadow may be on the poorer side but its not at all. This Makeup Revolution Palette is amazing! The colour pay off is pretty impressive for the price (although you do need a few layers) and the variety of looks that can be created is exactly what I was looking for. I have to say, my most used shade at the moment is the bronzey orange shade. It just looks beautiful on the lid, above the lid, anywhere really. I love it. I'll also be experimenting with the darker purple/brown shades over the Autumn/Winter period to match the standard berry lip. The only problem is that by the end of the day the colours seem to fade and blur into one on my lid. Weirdly though, my boyfriend always seems to compliment me on my eyeshadow at the end of the day so I'm assuming it doesn't look too bad (well, by boy standards). I'm sure a good eye primer would help. I also wish they would put shade names on the palette but I can't really complain. It was such a bargain. The palette does come with a sponge tip applicator but I'm like a child with a crayon using those things so I like to keep away from them as much as possible. Still, it's handy for travelling.

Overall, I'm super impressed. It feels so good to have a change in the eyeshadow department and the range of looks you can create are endless. I'm definitely going to be picking up a few more of these as they are so cheap. This is definitely one of my best bargain buys of late. Not the best though, I still have a few more to share with you soon! I've left links throughout but I'll also leave a link here if you'd like to check the eyeshadow palette out.

Have you tried any of the Makeup Revolution range before?

P.S I forgot to let you all know that I bought my own domain name! If there are any problems please let me know. Also If anyone knows why my adverts no longer show that would be amazing!

  2. I have one of their Iconic palettes and it's pretty much all I use when it comes to eyeshadow! I absolutely love it. I only use the sponge applicator to pat the shade I use for highlighting into my inner corner; I totally relate to your 'child with a crayon' comment ha! You should check out their highlighters too, they're amazing!xx

  31. This looks amazing and what a bargain! I really want the Naked palettes but because I already have so much make up they aren't something I can justify until I'm actually in need of some new, I do have the travel palette though. This looks like such a good dupe, I hardly ever go to Superdrug either but these look fab.
