Hello lovelies! Today's mood is all about monochrome. I'm usually a colourful kind of dresser. Give me patterns and pops of colour any day. I think my love for colour comes from my general shyness. I feel like I can drown and shrink away in a room full of people so the only way for me to stay a float and stand out used to be to wear things that weren't so inconspicuous. Does that make sense?

As I've gotten older I've become more at ease with myself. My style has slowly been changing, or should I say developing over the past few years and it isn't a bad thing. I've started easing blacks and whites into my wardrobe colour palette. What I've learned is that black and white outfits (or should I say monochrome outfits if we're getting all fancy) can still make a statement too. There is something very relaxed about monochrome but at the same time, it still looks very classy.

The top I'm wearing is from Dressgal*. I recently mentioned Dressgal* in my outfit of the day post here. You may remember me saying about how the clothes were so cheap but so good. I'm all about the bargains at the moment and this website provides an amazing range of cheap clothes for women and children. I know I'm not the only one who loves to snap up a bargain so it's only fair to share, right? Should we play guess the price again? Well would you believe that this cost $2.91?! This black and white checked top fits perfectly and actually feels very good quality. I'm super impressed by it. When clothes shopping online, I'm always worried that the sizing will be horrendously wrong. We've all seen the posts right? I'm pleased to say that that hasn't happened to me just yet although it would be kind of funny.

As for the skirt, it is an old one from Topshop although I'm still seeing this type of leather skirt floating around stores so it's nice to see the trend hasn't died out just yet. Leather skirts are great for autumn and are perfect for subtly adding texture to an outfit. With it being floaty on the bottom, it means that ladies (like me) who have trouble getting the thigh/waist fitting right don't have to worry.

You may also remember my hat from this outfit of the day blog post. You're probably wondering if I've taken this off at all. Well, answer is no. It's proving extremely handy for covering my roots! I'm so lazy with dying my hair so it is keeping me going for a little longer eek. As for the shoes, I probably should have chose black to go with the monochrome theme but I just love them so much. I've definitely got my moneys worth out of them! They remind me of old school shoes with the little buckles and again are in keeping with the autumnal theme. Plus they're the comfiest shoes I own!

  14. I love this outfit on you, it really suits you and monochrome has a certain effortlessly stylish look about it. The shoes are so cute, they remind me of the kind of school shoes I wore when I was little (in a good way!) I saw a pair of similar ones over the summer in a pale yellow that I loved. I can't believe how cheap that top was!
