Four Face Masks/Four Skin Problems

Face Masks for Skin Problems

Blackhead Killer Face Mask

Hello again lovelies! With Autumn on its way, this seems like the perfect time to stick the fire on, dig out those fuffy socks and indulge in a little pamper time. I failed to mention the onesie part but that's already an essential, right? Today I'm talking all about my favourite face masks. My skin is temperamental and can change it's mind at any moment so I'm always prepared incase my skin goes into rebellion. Here's some of my current favourites to target blemishes, oily skin, dry skin and black heads. Let's get on with it shall we?

Face Mask For Acne/Blemishes:

The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask (£11)

I'm a huge fan of The Body Shop's Tea Tree range (aren't we all?). I've repurchased this a few times now which is saying something as I always like to try something new. This is the one I run to in desperation when I've had a breakout as I find it's the best face mask for blemishes. Tea Tree is well known for combating spots due to it's anti bacterial properties so this is perfect for those inflamed little terrors. What I love about this tea tree face mask is that it has that tingly cold feeling to it. You know what I mean, the one where you can actually feel it working or at least doing something. It doesn't completely clear my skin but then again, what does? I'd be looking for a miracle if that were to happen but it does seem to calm it down and reduce the redness. Plus it is green which fits in with winter festivities as you do kind of look like the Grinch meaning no need for face paint if you run out of fancy dress ideas.

Face Mask For Oily Skin:

Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask (£15.75)

When my skin is feeling extra oily, I go for this one. Again I've spoken about this before in my Liz Earle skincare post so if you'd like to have a further read click here. I'm not really a fan of clay face masks that dry so hard that you have trouble producing a smile but this is an exception. Liz Earles Deep Cleansing Face Mask really does deep clean making it perfect for when you may or may not have gone to sleep with your makup on and you're feeling extra grubby. You get two sponges to remove the mask so it doubles up as a light exfoliator too. What I love about this is that afterwards, my skin feels completely oil free. But that isn't just it, for the next few days oil production is completely reduced. Yes, you heard me right. Shiny forehead be gone!

Face Mask For Dry Skin:

Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask (£16)

I initially bought this one for my boyfriend as our skin types are the complete opposite. He suffers with dry skin so I thought that I'd look for a moisturising face mask for him. He loved it! Well, he did for the first few goes but then gave up as he isn't too into being my guinea pig. That aside, if I've gone overboard on the blemish treatments or having one of those I wish I'd drank more water days, I apply this as a sneaky treat. You can actually leave this on overnight if you really need the moisture but I don't want to go too overboard so I leave it on for 15 minutes. It has the consistency of a moisturiser so it doesn't feel gloopy or messy (there's nothing worse than a face mask that ruins your favourite pyjamas) so this definitely is pillow friendly. As it has a creamy texture, the mask soaks in meaning that you don't need to wash it off if you don't want to. If you're looking for an emergency moisture boost I'd definitely recommend this.

Face Mask For Blackheads:

Blackhead Killer (£14.95)*

I'm sure most of us have blackheads mainly lurking around the nose area. Am I right or am I right? Mine aren't too bad, not overly noticeable but like most girls they are when you have you face pressed right up to the mirror. We've all seen the how to remove blackhead tutorials on Pinterest but there is no way I'm attacking my nose with a toothbrush. I'd probably end up with it stuck up there or something. Blackhead Killer is meant to work by sucking the oil, bacteria, pimples and blackheads up and out of the skin. The texture of this face mask is very thick but rapidly dries and turns into a peel off mask. You can focus the mask on just your nose or your chin but I've been using it all over just incase I have any pesky blackheads hiding in places I've never noticed. As you can see from the cover of the box, the mask looks pretty intense (think the rubber man from American Horror Story). If you got my tv reference, I love you! Joking aside, this is the industrial strength mask out of the bunch. If you're a fan of the no pain no gain motto, this may be right up your street. I'm not going to lie, it does cause some slight pain when you're removing it as it needs to stick pretty hard to attach to all those blocked plugs. Once the mask is off though, you can oooh and ahhh until your heart is content as you can see all the tiny white dots all over the mask. When I say all over, I mean all over. It's crazy! If you're looking for a black head treatment this may be for you as long as you are prepared for a few eye watering moments.

I hope this encourages you all to put your feet up and indulge in some well deserved pampering. If you're more of a natural skincare lover or fancy a rummage around your cupboards why not try making your own? My favourite would have to be a honey face mask.

Let me know what your favourite face masks are!

  4. I love the sound of the blackhead mask! I love using nose strips and looking at them after too see what uglies it's taken from my nose haha. I like moisture masks too but they just don't feel as theraputic as regular masks do they?

    1. It is a little pricey isn't it! I think it would be good for people who really worry about their blackheads and want an intensive treatment. I always use a mask when I've treat my skin badly, I think it's a guilt thing haha!
