The Body Shop: Rainforest Radiance Shampoo & Conditioner

The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance

The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Conditioner

Hello lovelies! I've hit that time of year when I suddenly run out of every shampoo and conditioner I own in one go. I'm usually left with half filled bottles everywhere but I've finally got through them as my hair has been drying out due to (what I'm going to blame it on) the weather. Did anyone else just have a mini sing song to B Witched blame it on the weatherman? No, just me then. Anyways, I resorted to rummaging around my bathroom to see what I could use and I found these beauties hiding away. You know how amazing the Body Shop's loyalty card is? Well I'm sure I got four of these as my free gift for £10 or something like that. I've managed to get through two bottles and I'm now on to my last. I also had a hair treatment from this range too but that was used up too rapidly to blog about!

The shampoo and conditioner are from the Rainforest Radiance range and are aimed at those who have coloured their hair. These are both silicone, sulphate, colourant and paraben free. If you haven't heard of the benefits of avoiding these in hair care, have a quick browse online! I went through a phase where I avoided sulphates and silicones but I caved in after a while and went back to my standard shampoo even though my hair felt a lot lighter and healthier. What can I say, I just can't resist the temptation! At least I'm back for the time being.

Rainforest Radiance Shampoo
The shampoo comes out in a liquid/oil form and contains pracaxi oil, bilberry extract and linseed oil. It also contains UV filter. As this is sulphate and silicone free, it doesn't foam up when you rub it in which can be a weird experience if you're a foam junkie like myself. I know it's bad for my hair but I'm usually the more foam the better kind of girl. Don't be fooled by the no foam experience though, it still cleans your hair well. What I will say is don't make the same mistake as me and try to make up for it with the amount of product you use as the first time I tried it, my hair felt greasy pretty quickly. I found this really moisturising which was a change and it didn't strip my hair of all it's oils. My scalp had been dry and itchy over the past few months and this didn't irritate it at all. Plus it smells so good, think light fruity scents.

Rainforest Radiance Conditioner
The rainforest radiance conditioner smells just as good as the shampoo and contains all the same oils as mentioned before. This comes out like a standard conditioner although I did have an issue with the bottle itself as it is difficult to get the product out. Once massaged through my lengths and washed out, my hair is tangle free and smooth. Leaving my hair to dry naturally allows me to see how well a conditioner handles frizz and damage and this didn't disappoint. It's not the softest my hair has ever been but it definitely didn't feel dry. The only thing that annoyed me with these products were the lids. Does anyone else hate lids where you have to dig your nail under? My nail polish chipped and I was gutted. I know it's petty but it was either that or using my teeth and I didn't want a mouthful of shampoo and conditioner! As far as problems go though it's not the end of the world.

If you're looking for a sulphate/silicone free shampoo and conditioner this is worth a try. Even if you aren't fussed, it's still a lovely product. Plus the smell makes me feel like I'm Nicole Scherzinger in the shower minus the bottle of herbal essences. These are sample sized products which are handy if you don't want to invest in the full size until you've tried it or even if you're going on holiday. The sample size (60ml) retails as £2 each and the full size (250ml) retails at £4.50. Not too bad ey?

  22. Hi! I have had these as well in my shower cabin collection ;) but I gave up on them pretty quick, I realize now I made the mistake by using way too much product for it to lather better and after the result where indeed greasy…. I do remember loving the scent!! It is actually what made me buy them the first place :P might get those sample sizes and give them a second chance!

  37. Gorgeous & crisp photography, these pictures look like the kind you'd see if these products were being advertised in a magazine! This was a lovely little read, I've never tried these products, or any of The Body Shops shampoo & conditioners for that matter but after reading about these two I'll definitely be adding them to my list of products to try out! They sound really lovely, although I agree that it might be odd to rub a shampoo into my hair and for it to not foam up, but if it works just as well then the more natural the better! Great post & I love their Coconut Body Scrub, I'm obsessed with it and it's smell! :-)

  38. I remember this stuff! I used it a couple of years ago when I was actually IN a rainforest (the Amazon to be precise), a friend with coloured hair lent me her bottles after my own stuff ran out a couple of weeks in, and even though I have the driest, curliest, thickest hair ever, it actually did a really good job! Lovely post :)
