Ooh La La: M&S French Manicure Kit

M&S French Manicure Set
M&S French Manicure Set

Hello again lovelies! Do you ever look at all your nail polish collection and think I hate you all when really you love each and every single one but you're too overwhelmed by the choice? Well, that was me last night. I get the same feeling when I take a trip to MAC, I'm just to indecisive and excited all at the same time. With the weather starting to warm up, I wanted bright and fresh looking nails so after a lot of uming and ahing I went with an old favourite. The trusty french manicure.

I actually picked this set up a a while back as I had a voucher for M&S. I was probably tempted by one of their amazing meal deals but I'm glad I chose to invest wisely. You can buy this french manicure set for £7.50 which isn't bad considering that you get three polishes plus it isn't just any nail polish... it's Marks and Spencer's nail polish. Sorry, how could I resist. I don't have the steadiest of hands but this is pretty simple to use.

Step 1: I usually start with Sally Hansen Hard As Nails as a base coat no matter what polish I choose. This stuff is amazing as it stops your nails snapping and helps to grow them out. As I've almost ran out, I decided to skip this step but just incase you're wanting to grow your nails out there's my top tip!

Step 2: I applied a thin coat of French Pink to the nail. This creates a natural pink sheen which to be honest would look lovely on it's own after a few coats.

Step 3: I then applied White Tip to the ends of my nails. I tend to follow the outline of my nail as a guide to paint. If your nails are short, don't worry this is still easy to apply. The brush that comes with this polish gives really good control meaning that the polish doesn't go everywhere. It also doesn't go on too thick giving you that blobby/tipex look. Admit it, we've all done the old tipex manicure in school right?

Step 4: Next, I applied another coat of French Pink (I can't get enough of it).

Step 5: Finally, I used the Top Shine polish to protect the nail and seal in the ends. This also, as the name suggests, gives a beautiful shiny finish.

The french manicure is such a simple yet classic look to achieve plus doing it at home is a fraction of the price a salon would charge. If you struggle with creating straight lines, you can also buy stick on guides which you remove once you've painted the tips. The best thing about this kit is that I've never experienced sheet marks which is usually the bane of my life. The polish also dries very quickly meaning that smudging is kept to a minimum too! Overall, it's been a successful day on the nail front.

What's your go to nail polish at the moment?
