Cream VS Powder Blush Debate: Collection Cosmetics

Collection Speedy Blush Stick and Gorgeous Glow Block Swatches

Hello lovelies! Today I'm joining you with the cream vs powder debate! There are so many difficult decisions to make in life and a new one that has been added to my list is cream or powder blush. I'm usually a powder blush kinda gal as it's easy to build up helping to avoid a big red face. I'm sure we've all gone through the more blush the better aka the beetroot phase when we were younger. Since those awkward school days, I like to think I'm a lot more careful when applying blusher so I've always been wary of trying cream blush. I've never trusted myself not to get carried away with it but it's about time that I give it a shot. Let's see where I stand in the cream vs powder debate now!

Collection Gorgeous Glow 1 £4.19*
I was kindly asked to try out the exciting new blush range from Collection. The Gorgeous Glow powder blushes come in block palettes and can be found in two shades. The first is a beautiful peachy blush block. The colours in this palette are stunning and feel very summery with hints of shimmer. To apply you just swirl your brush around, smile and apply to the apples of your cheeks. I love the idea of swirling your brush around in these although at the same time, they're so pretty I don't want to ruin them! I'd describe the look as a champagne/pink maybe even rose gold shade which makes it perfect for highlighting too.

Collection Gorgeous Glow 2 £4.19*
The second is the Gorgeous Glow bronze block. This is beautiful too and reminds me of going to the beach with all those warm golden and brown tones. Again this also has a light shimmer giving you that extra glow. As you all know, I have fair skin and bronzer can either make me or break me. This shade isn't too harsh especially after blending meaning that I don't have to worry about overpowering lines. The great thing about this block is that you could also use this to contour by applying down the sides of your nose, under the cheek bones and around your temples. Who doesn't love a multitasking product? To add to it's many talents, I even tried each section as an eyeshadow palette and the colours looked stunning together. I'm thinking this would be perfect to take on holiday as you have all areas covered in just one block.

Collection Speedy Blush Stick (Cheeky) £3.99*
Now onto the Speedy Blush Stick. These sticks come in three different shades. There is ticked pink (a pinky shade) Cheeky (a peachy shade) and pinch me (a plum shade). Who doesn't love a play on words? The one I tried was in the shade cheeky. My initial worry about using cream blush was that that I'd end up with pink streaks everywhere but I didn't have that problem at all. All you do is dot the blush onto your cheeks and then blend it with your fingertips. I'm guessing it's called Speedy Blush as it is so quick to use. Once it's blended, you are left with what I would describe as a healthy flush to your cheeks. I was so surprised at how natural this looked! You may have noticed that I'm all for multitasking products and I found another use for this. I tried this on my lips as a lip stain and it really complemented the blush as it created a natural 'your lips but better' shade. I've heard that the Speedy Blush stick is also a great dupe for Clinique's Chubby Stick. Who doesn't love a good dupe? The only criticism I can think of is that using the cream blush could be unhygienic especially if you have blemish prone skin but at the same time you could always use your fingers to get the product off the stick. I haven't experienced any blemishes from this yet so it's not something I'm worried about, I'm just putting it out there.

So where do I stand on the cream vs powder debate? Ok, so my indecisiveness is coming out. Is it wrong to like both? It actually took me a while to decide this but my favourite would have to be powder blush. I just love how versatile it can be. Even typing this I'm feeling guilty as I loved the cream blush too. Out of the two powder blush blocks, I've been using the bronze one the most as it has helped to give my pale little face a lovely healthy glow. I never used to use bronzer except for contouring but this has switched my makeup routine up for the better and I'm loving it. Let's hope the sun stays a little longer so I can make the most of my new found glow!

  10. I'm definitely team powder! I think I'm just picky but I find that cream blush tends to remove the foundation underneath when you try to blend it and I haven't found one I like yet. Powder just gives me a nicer finish. These all look great though - great value! Great reviews as always my love - can't wait to hear what you make of Jurassic World :) xx
