Scott Cornwall Shine On Clear Hair Glaze Review

Scott Cornwall Shine On Clear Hair Glaze

Hello again lovelies! I remember reading a while back about celebrity hair secrets and one that stuck out in particular was hair glazing. You know how celebs always have glossy hair? Well apparently this is how they achieve it. I remember thinking that I needed one immediately but after some research I learned that it involved a trip to the hair dressers which was the end of that dream. When I was little I asked for a hair cut like Jo from S Club 7 ... yes, you heard me right. Not Rachel, not Tina but Jo. I think what I meant to ask for was blonde hair but never mind. To be honest I felt more like Paul after I came out and ever since then I've never trusted a hair dresser. You may remember my last post where I talked about the Scott Cornwall Colour Restore Toner* ( you can find that here). Well, they kindly sent me the Scott Cornwall Shine On Clear Hair Glaze* (£12.99) to try too. The idea of attempting this at home was a lot more appealing than a trip to the salon so here's my thoughts.

Packaging:
Shine On Hair Glaze arrived in the pink box shown above. It contained three bottles: 1.pre cleansing treatment, 2.developer and 3.collagen shine cream. Instructions and gloves were also included.

Application:
You're meant to run your hair under warm water for three minutes then apply a small amount of the pre cleanse treatment, foam it up and rinse. You then repeat this process. I tend to get a lot of build up on my hair due to oils and treatments so this removes all the gunk so that you're ready for application. Afterwards, you pour the developer into the collagen shine cream and shake your little heart out. You then apply the mixture to your mid lengths and then comb through for a few minutes. Once you've done this you can then add some to your roots, they don't need as much time as they tend to be the healthiest looking. Finally, you can relax for twenty minutes and then massage the last of the bottle all over your hair. After you've rinsed it out, it is suggested that you blow dry and straighten your hair afterwards to seal the cuticles. If you like to avoid heat, then you can style your hair as normal. I chose the straightener option just to see what it looked like.

Thoughts:
My first impressions of the pre cleansing treatment were pretty good. My hair did feel very clean although my fringe had a strange texture to it. I don't know if I had applied to much in that area as it was on the top? The application of the mixture itself was straight forward, it was similar to applying hair dye. After the mixture had been rinsed, my hair was so difficult to brush that my hair brush got stuck (think princess diaries moment). All I can say is thank god for the tangle teezer, you did me proud! I was still worried about the texture of my hair as I was drying it but once I'd finished straightening, it felt normal again.

In terms of shine, my hair definitely catches the light. I wouldn't say it is as glossy as Kim K's but then again who am I kidding? Although the shine isn't as much as I'd anticipated (I do like to set my sights high), it definitely has more gloss to it than before. I actually think my hair looks lighter as all the build up has been removed too. I'd love to see how this looks on darker hair as I find that dark shades tend to have a more noticeable shine. If you're like me and avoid the hair dressers like the plague then this is a great concept to get salon shiny hair at home. I'll just add that my hair hasn't been left with a silicone feeling which is always great. Hopefully it will last the full 24 washes!

What's your thoughts? How do you achieve shiny hair at home?

  5. Oh wow! I didn't even know you could get stuff like this! Sounds good, I'd love to try it. My hair can get quite oily so I found the best thing to keep it shiny is to leave it longer between washes (I was washing it far too often!) and keep in all he natural oils and then it's super shiny after I wash it. Great review hun! xx
