MUA Shade 11 Review: The £1 Lipstick

Hello again lovelies! Today I'm going to be talking about my latest purchase which was a long overdue lipstick. Getting a new lipstick always puts me in an amazing mood and the fact that this one was only £1 made me even happier. Yes, of course I'm talking about the popular MUA range. I've heard so many people talking about MUA so this purchase was definitely "a blogger made me do it" moment. I've done pretty well curbing my lipstick addiction but I couldn't resist buying this one at such a bargain price.  As you may know, I've been totally and utterly sucked into the nude lip trend so I of course chose shade 11. Never did I think the day would come where I'd abandon my red lips for so long but hey ho that's life or should I say the impact of Kylie Jenner. Let's get on with the review then shall we?

Packaging:
I really like the packaging as although it's simple, the black and silver stick reminds me a lot of MAC's packaging. Also, if you follow me on Twitter, you may have caught how amazed I was by the screw off pot on the bottom. I guess that would be really handy if you ran out of product or if you like to use a brush to apply it and don't want to ruin the stick. Even if I don't use it, it's such a lovely touch. MUA give yourself a pat on the back!

Thoughts:
This lipstick applied so easily, it almost felt like butter as it glided across my lips. I'm usually a matte kinda gal so the feeling this had was almost moreish, I had to stop myself applying it. My lips need some serious hydration and this gave me that instantly. I usually have a nightmare prepping my lips for a lipstick as they are quite dry and I think this lipstick would be perfect for those who worry about it sinking into dry patches as it completely smooths over them. Not only did my lips feel moisturised, they also had a lovely glossy sheen to them. The pigmentation itself is easy to build up and the overall colour is beautiful. As you can see from the photo above, on first application, the colour is a lovely light nude. Once I started layering it, you could see more of the pinkish tone which was swatched on my hand. This is perfect as you can build the colour to suit the look you're going for.

The Test Of Time:
I actually went out for a "cheeky Nando's" wearing this lipstick. Yes, I did just say cheeky Nando's and I'm totally cringing. I've never said that before and probably never will again so do excuse me. I did end up eating a lot of my lipstick but when I checked on the way home, there was some slight pigmentation there. To be honest I'm not really bothered that I'd have to reapply throughout the day as it's such a lovely lisptick. With it not being matte, I wouldn't really expect it to last all day anyway.

Overall, I'm over the moon with this lipstick. It's definitely been added to my favourites and I can't wait to try more of their range. If you think about it, you could buy 15 of their lipsticks instead of one high end one which makes it even more appealing. Also, did anyone else get really excited when they noticed the screw off bottom? As you can probably tell, it was the highlight of my day.

Have you tried any MUA products? Send some recommendations my way!

  7. Oh this is such a gorgeous colour, I am a little bit of a hoarder when it comes to MUA lipsticks because they're too cheap not to! The bottom is perfect isn't it! How long did it take you to realise?! It took me forever haha! I think it's really hand to put on as a sort of lip liner using a brush, because i'm useless keeping it tidy haha!

  36. I have two of the MUA lipsticks, (shade 7 and 13) that I reviewed on my blog and I completely agree, they are such great value. The pigmentation, texture, and how long they last seem so much more than their £1 price. And thank you for pointing out the pot at the bottom! When I got mine I'd heard that the bottom unscrewed, and I tried relentlessly to open it- but I've never managed to open the bottom on either of mine! What is your secret haha?!

To be honest, I've always been a bit wary of lipstick, I usually highlight my eyes and then apply a bit of lipgloss or lipbalm. But now I really want to experiment with these, maybe you've turned me into a lipstick girl after all, hehe :) x
