Pets At Home Christmas Haul

Christmas isn't just for humans, it's for your furry friends too! I have two guinea pigs called Daisy and Pixie and a Tortoise whose name is still up for debate (let me know if you have any ideas). Daisy is the guinea pig featured above, she's a little bit of a diva and is incredibly cute. Pixie is more reserved so I haven't been able to snap a photo of her yet but I promise you she is just as sweet. I recently popped into Pets at Home to grab some hay and noticed they had a Christmas section, how adorable! I love my little babies so much that I decided to brighten their home up with some animal friendly decorations.

First up I found a little tree for my guinea pigs which they can chew on. I just thought this was so cute and it's a nice addition to their home. I think it's nice that we can both have a tree, is that sad? Daisy and Pixie have both climbed up to have a sniff of this but I haven't seen them chew it yet. It takes them a little while to trust new objects so I'm sure they'll warm up to it in due course.

I then spotted this. Guinea pigs love tunnels and activities to keep them occupied so I thought I'd get my girls a new addition. These play sticks (£5) remind me of a winter log cabin. Daisy becomes extremely excited if if she has obstacles to navigate around so she loves running through this and Pixie likes to eat her dinner under here. This has been quite a success! It looks so pretty in their little area, I wish I had a log cabin to run around in. I'm so jealous!

Now this is my favourite purchase. I usually use fleecy blankets when my guinea pigs are sitting on my knee as they love the feel of it. When I saw this Christmassy faux fur bed (£8) I knew that it would be a perfect replacement. It's a beautiful red colour with white fleece inside plus it is reversible. The only problem is that when I hand washed the bed and dried it on a low heat over the radiator, it left me a little surprise. When I removed it, there was a red dye stain all over the wall. I would have thought with it being suitable for animals it would be colour safe but it isn't... I'm not quite sure what to do with this now. My babies do like using it as a little settee but I'm a little disappointed with the quality and my wall. Any ideas how to remove red dye would be appreciated!

Finally I bought them an advent calender (£2). I've never thought about advent for animals but the excitement of spotting this bubbled up inside of me. I'm going to alternate the treats between the two of them which I'm sure they'll love. Each treat is chocolate flavoured and is suitable for small animals. I'm sure they had ones for cats and dogs too. It's a shame that there wasn't anything for my tortoise but she may miss Christmas anyway as she is currently hibernating.

It feels so nice getting my pets involved in the festive season. Have you got your pets anything for Christmas?
